The first Belgrade temple with which the Missionary Department established fruitful cooperation is the Temple of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Dorćol. By the founding act issued by His Holiness, Serbian Patriarch G. Porfirije, the headquarters of the Missionary Department is located within the parish house of this temple, so it was natural for the first missionary activities of the Department to be conducted precisely at this temple. On this occasion, we announce the expansion of the existing cooperation with the Nevsky temple, regarding the development of the missionary project NevskyTalks.
NevskyTalks is a missionary pilot project that was launched in December 2022 as part of the activities of the clergy of the Temple of Saint Alexander Nevsky who were proficient in the English language. The idea was to occasionally hold lectures in English for foreign nationals residing within the territory of the Archdiocese, who do not speak Serbian but are interested in Orthodoxy, and to provide confession and spiritual conversation for those among them who are Orthodox Christians. Soon, a group of about twenty attendees was formed, originating from various parts of the world, from America and Canada to Australia, and new attendees appeared at each subsequent lecture.
The NevskyTalks project was active during the period 2022-2023 and demonstrated the need for such activity to be continued and expanded. In this regard, in the upcoming period, NevskyTalks will be realized synergistically through cooperation between the External Mission Department of the Missionary Department AEM and the Temple of Saint Alexander Nevsky, within whose parish house these lectures will continue to be held. Regular announcements about these lectures, which are open to all interested listeners, will be posted on the official website of the Missionary Department.
In the upcoming period, we expect the expansion of this important activity of the External Mission Department of the MO AEM through cooperation with other parish temples of the Belgrade-Karlovci Archdiocese.
