Broadcast on the Topic: “Atheistic and Antitheistic Narrative in the Serbian Public Sphere”

As a result of the collaboration between the Section for Dialogue in the Public Sphere of the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci and the Orthodox internet portal “Žive Reči”, a broadcast on the topic “Atheistic and Antitheistic Narrative in the Serbian Public Sphere” was streamed online on November 20, 2024. The programme was hosted by Proto-presbyter Ivan Cvetković, who runs the Žive Rečiportal, while the guest speaker was Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Milojkov, coordinator of the Section for Dialogue in the Public Sphere, of the Archdiocese’s Missionary Department.

Deacon Aleksandar discussed the nature of the atheistic and antitheistic narratives, citing specific examples from the media. He highlighted how activism by various NGOs and individuals is directed against the Serbian Orthodox Church and its presence in the public sphere. He further explained the ultimate aims and the essential nature of this narrative, which fundamentally represents the crudest form of hate speech and a manifestation of totalitarian ideology.

The broadcast attracted a large live audience and garnered thousands of views within 24 hours of streaming. The Section for Dialogue in the Public Sphere of the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci  is using this opportunity to officially thank Proto-presbyter Ivan Cvetković and the Žive RečiOrthodox portal for their continuous and significant contribution in strengthening the missionary efforts of our Church. Thanks be to God, we are using our voice to spread the Word of God – and we will continue to do so! By using gentle words and strong arguments.
