On the Five Pillars of Life the Orthodox Faith Builds

As part of the event named “The Days of St. Achillius”, on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the courtyard of the Church of St. Achillius in Arilje, a lecture titled “The Five Pillars of Life the Orthodox Faith Builds” was presented by Presbyter Dr. Oliver Subotic, the Director of the Missionary Department of the AEM.

The introductory word was given by the Archbishop’s deputy of Pozega and Arilje, the Protopresbyter Dragan Stevic, who invited the director of MD to come and give the above-titled lecture. In front of a numerous audience, Father Oliver spoke about the way the Orthodox faith gives a core life purpose which every man, as a God-like being aspires to; it also gives an incentive for personal development in every sense, by multiplying God-given talents; it gives strength in difficult situations;  it frees from unnecessary worries and ultimately, provides healing for the human soul from various wounds, of which sin is the greatest one, which needs to be healed while here, so that it is not carried over into eternity.

A talk with the faithful ensued, some of whom, according to the speaker, provided help to his family, three-and-a-half decades ago. The lecture was also attended by the Arilje priests, who engaged in an exchange of views with the speaker, concerning different topics related to the church mission and church life.

Following the lecture, there was a performance by the “Branko” choir from Nis, which captivated the audience.
