When Media Becomes a Space for Mission

Catechist Branislav Ilić, editor of the „Kinonia“ portal, was a guest on the latest edition of the programme „Conversations with a Purpose“ („Razgovori s povodom“), broadcast on Radio „Glas“ (Voice) of the Diocese of Niš on Monday, October 5, 2026. The occasion for the conversation was the second anniversary of the „Kinonia“ portal, recently marked in Belgrade with a gathering titled „Kinonia – A Call to Community.“ The interview was conducted by Boban Kocev, a journalist with Radio „Glas.“

The discussion touched upon the meaning of the word Koinonia —community in Greek—and the Church’s mission in the modern digital space, as well as the question of how to bring the Gospel message closer to people today and create space for a genuine encounter. Catechist Branislav Ilić also spoke about bearing witness to the faith in an era where people spend increasing amounts of time in the virtual world, and about how mission is not merely the transmission of information, but above all a call to community, encounter, and life in Christ.

According to the guest from the Diocese of Niš radio station, if we know that the Lord is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, then our life’s journey will be directed along the right path—one paved with love and the other Christian virtues that should adorn our lives. Catechist Branislav called upon young people to engage in the mission of the Church and to serve their holy Church by multiplying their gifts, for every member of the Church is called to bear witness to the beauty of their faith through both word and deed.
