On the Feast Day of the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, September 14/27, 2024, the first of the planned “Kinonia” portal missionary projects will be launched, with daily Scriptural readings and the corresponding commentary for each day of the year.
The Holy Scripture is not just another book; it represents life itself. This profound truth is also echoed by the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, who said that “the words of the Holy Scripture are spirit and life” (John 6:63). Similarly, our Holy and God-bearing Church father, St. John Chrysostom, teaches us about the importance of the Holy Scripture, saying, “Holy Scripture is the path, and those who stray from it – are left to wander.” According to St. Symeon the New Theologian, “Holy Scripture is the written Living Word of the Living God, which is the salt and the light of this world” (Matt. 5:14)
The deepest inner spiritual meaning of the Scripture is revealed during the Divine Liturgy. The Gospel is in continuous use, throughout the entire liturgical year, except during the first five days of Great Lent and the two days of Cheesefare Week. The “Kinonia” portal will daily be posting the sections from the Epistle and the Gospel, along with their interpretations, which correspond to the established liturgical order of the Scriptural readings. This project will be administered by His Grace Bishop Jovan (Purić), a collaborator of the “Kinonia” portal.
You can read the daily Scriptural readings with commentary on our portal in the section “Gospel Commentary” –HERE.
