The Section for Dialogue in the Public Sphere of the Missionary Department of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci, in collaboration with the Biblical Cultural Centre, is organising a panel discussion on the topic: “Sex and Gender – One or Two Realities, Harmony or Potential Conflict with Oneself?” The event will take place at the Belgrade Youth Centre on June 18, 2024, at 7 p.m.
Panel guest speakers are:
- Priest Stevan Jovanović, theologian, Deputy Chairman of the Religious Education Board of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci;
- Dr. Biljana Pirgić, child psychiatrist, child and adolescent psychotherapist and psychoanalyst;
- Dr. Aleksey Tarasyev, Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković“, University of Belgrade;
- Dr. Marko Benčić, Assistant Professor, specialist in pediatric surgery with experience in gender-synchronising surgery; member of the Belgrade Centre for Urogenital Reconstructive Surgery;
- Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Milojkov, Coordinator of the Section for Dialogue in the Public Sphere of the Missionary Department of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci, and moderator of the panel discussion.
The panel guest speakers will discuss the following topics:
- The issue of defining and distinguishing between sex and gender
- Gender dysphoria (gender incongruence)
- A critical review of the concept of gender
