No one has interpreted Christ’s teaching in the Serbian language with such depth and eloquence as Saint Nikolaj of Ohrid, ŽIča, and Lelić. No one, like our Serbian Chrysostom, has ventured into the most hidden corners of sin-frozen human souls and warmed them with the gentle breath of the Gospel of Christ.
The Kinonia portal is pleased to announce a new series of texts dedicated to Saint Bishop Nikolaj—the wondrous saint, the most enlightened teacher, the inspired preacher, the wise diplomat, and the reviver of dormant souls. The project, entitled “Saint Nikolaj – The Fifth Evangelist of the Serbian People,” will be curated by Aleksandra Marilović, a regular contributor to the Kinonia portal, who will strive to penetrate the depths of the extraordinary personality of the Serbian Chrysostom and to present to the readership the most important aspects of the saint’s abundant life and work.
The eloquent words of Saint Nikolaj are accessible to all—both to the learned and the unlearned. In his writings, even the loftiest heavenly-earthly questions are explained and simplified through the charm of his extraordinary stylistic expressions and parables. In accordance with this truth, the forthcoming series of texts will be characterised by clarity and concreteness, with the aim of ensuring that this literary testimony serves as a reminder of the missionary efforts and enduring significance of the equal-to-the-apostles Saint of Lelić.
The series “Saint Nikolaj – The Fifth Evangelist of the Serbian People” will begin on Monday, 28 July 2025. New instalments by Aleksandra Marilović will be published bimonthly.
