On January 30, 2025., at 7:00PM, a professional seminar for young priests of the Archdiocese of Belgrade and Karlovci was held in the parish hall of the Church of St. John Vladimir in the Medaković area. The topic was “Practical Guidelines for Catechetical Work of Priests,” and it attracted 19 young clergymen.
After the introductory greetings from the parish rector, Deputy Protopriest Milan Martić, and the opening remarks by Presbyter Dr. Oliver Subotić, Head of the Missionary Department of AEM and Coordinator of the Parish Mission Section and Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Vajo Jović, the main lecture was delivered by Protopriest Branislav Jelić, parish priest at the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky.
Fr. Branislav Jelić addressed the practical aspects of priestly service, emphasizing its critical role in the Christian life of the community. He placed special emphasis on the importance of active participation in the Holy Eucharist, highlighting its central role in the life of the Church. Additionally, he underlined the significance of religious education within parish churches, where the faithful are spiritually nurtured and grow in their faith.
Following Fr. Branislav Jelić’s lecture, Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Vajo Jović, Coordinator of the Parish Mission Section of the Missionary Department of the AEM, shared his insights and recommendations based on his long-standing experience in this field. An interactive discussion with the young priests followed, allowing them to exchange thoughts and ask questions.
Among the experienced priests present was Deputy Protopriest Stevan Vukić, rector of the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, who also contributed to the discussion by sharing his experiences. The lecture and the discussion lasted for approximately an hour and a half.
Thanks to the efforts of Deputy Protopriest Milan Marić, a refreshment reception was organized for all attending priests. The next mentorship seminar for young priests of the Archdiocese is scheduled for the end of February 2025.
