Lecture on Orthodoxy in Mexico Delivered in English

The latest, tenth lecture of the NevskyTalks missionary project in English, held on October 21, 2024, on the premises of the Missionary Department of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci, provided an interesting overview of the development of Orthodox Christianity in Mexico.

The lecture was given by Nectarios Mina Guevara, a Mexican Orthodox Christian and an English professor in Mexico, who occasionally visits Serbia, and belongs to the liturgical community of St. Alexander Nevsky Church. The lecture was moderated by Father Dr. Oliver Subotić.

In his presentation, the speaker introduced the audience to the state of the Orthodox Mission in Mexico, focusing on the missionary work of various jurisdictions and their distinct characteristics. The liturgical life of Orthodox Christians in the country was also discussed, and the audience was pleasantly surprised by the number of Orthodox Christians in Mexico.

The next lecture in the regular NevskyTalks series will take place at the end of November, on the topic “Orthodoxy in the United States.”
