Lecture: “Remembrance and Diptych – the Orthodox Liturgy” in English

The Section for External Mission of the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade and Karlovci (AEM) continues to organize monthly lectures in English as part of the NevskyTalks project. These lectures are aimed at missionary outreach to foreign nationals living in Belgrade, who are interested in Orthodox Christianity.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, at 6:30 PM, a lecture titled “Memory and Diptych – the Orthodox Liturgy” was held in English at the Missionary Department Office, within the parish hall of the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky. The lecture was delivered by Deacon Dr. Djordje Petrović, a professor of Dogmatics at the St. Sava Theological Seminary in Belgrade.

The event attracted around 20 foreign nationals, from Canada, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, who actively participated in a discussion following the insightful and engaging presentation of the speaker.

A new feature of this lecture was its availability via Skype, allowing international participants to follow the event remotely. As a result, several attendees from the UK and the USA joined the session online. Among them was Bishop Nektarios (Nektarije) of the Diocese of Great Britain and Ireland, who expressed particular appreciation for the new forms of missionary collaboration between the Serbian Orthodox Church in the diaspora and the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade and Karlovci. This lecture marked the beginning of the 2025 lecture series within the NevskyTalks project.
