Following the collaboration between the Section for Public Sphere Dialogue of the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci and the Orthodox Internet portal “Žive Reči“ (“Living Words”), an online stream on the topic “Does Creation Testify to the Existence of the Creator? The Faith and Science Challenge” was broadcast on December 21, 2024. The programme was hosted by Protopresbyter Ivan Cvetković, who runs the “Living Words” portal, and the guest speaker was Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Milojkov, the coordinator of the Section for Public Sphere Dialogue.
In the broadcast, Deacon Alexander discussed different faith and science relationship models, presenting and analyzing the views of renowned international scientists. He explained how one should approach scientific theories, the role of scientific skepticism, and the relationship between scientific theories and truth. The pitfalls of conflict between faith and science, as well as the equally erroneous concordist approach, were highlighted. Special attention was given to the perspective of theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, who, despite being agnostic, presented a compelling argument in favour of the existence of God.
