The Role of Young People in the Mission of the Church through the Perspective of the Kinonia Portal

The guests of the new edition of the programme “Temple” (“Hram”), broadcast on Radio Belgrade 2 on Sunday, 22 March 2026, were catechist Branislav Ilić, editor of the missionary portal “Kinonia” and a permanent expert associate of the Section for Electronic Mission of the Missionary Department of the Archbishopric of Belgrade–Karlovci, Prof. Aleksandra Mijailović, a member of the editorial team and proofreader of the “Kinonia” portal, as well as Ms Jovana Babović, a member of the editorial team responsible for managing the portal’s social media. In the aforementioned programme, the distinguished guests spoke on the topic: “The Role of Young People in the Mission of the Church through the Perspective of the Kinonia Portal.” The programme was authored and hosted by Dušanka Zeković.

In the introductory part of the programme, catechist Branislav Ilić spoke about the mission of the Church as a calling and an exalted ministry. According to him, one of the final commandments that the Lord addressed to His disciples—and through them to every member of the Church—is the commandment to proclaim the good news of His Gospel. Branislav emphasized that, over time, the forms of missionary activity have changed and expanded, yet the goal of the mission has always remained the same. He also spoke about the importance of mission carried out through the use of modern information technologies, stressing that, in this regard, the “Kinonia” portal has justified its existence. In the conclusion of his introductory remarks, the editor of the “Kinonia” portal proudly underlined that the portal and the entire “Kinonia” project have grown into a missionary community founded upon the enduring principles of love and diligence.

In her capacity as a member of the editorial team and proofreader of the “Kinonia” portal, Prof. Aleksandra Mijailović spoke about her participation in the work of this missionary portal. With the listeners of Radio Belgrade, Aleksandra shared two striking personal experiences through which she came to realize that her involvement in “Kinonia” is both a calling and the will of God, which she has embraced with her whole being. She also spoke about her authored texts and the topics she addresses, while additionally drawing attention to her obedience, which she carries out daily with zeal and love within the editorial team. According to her, the proofreading of texts constitutes a responsible obedience, since the message and the context in which a given author writes on a particular subject are of great importance.

Jovana Babović, a member of the editorial team responsible for managing the social media of the “Kinonia” portal, spoke about her upbringing within the life of the Church and about the various forms of participation in ecclesial life—through chanting, iconography, and the writing of inspired poetry, as well as through her involvement in missionary service within the “Kinonia” portal. Drawing upon her personal experience and the knowledge she has acquired, Jovana reflected on the role of young people in the mission of the Church. According to her, through their participation in missionary activities, young people grow spiritually, acquiring a form of spiritual education that constitutes a priceless treasure which never fades.

Further down the line, attention was given to concrete missionary activities carried out within the framework of the “Kinonia” portal. Catechist Branislav Ilić acquainted the listeners of Radio Belgrade with the collaborators of the portal and explained how this portal sows the missionary seed in the souls of those who freely and lovingly receive this written and living word. Concluding this segment of the discussion, Branislav stated that the ministry of the Church’s mission requires wholehearted participation, zeal, perseverance, and love, so that its fruits may be blessed and salvific.

At the conclusion of this edition of the programme “Temple” (“Hram”) on Radio Belgrade, the editor of the “Kinonia” portal expressed his gratitude to Ms Dušanka Zeković for the invitation and the hospitality extended. He also thanked the members of the editorial team and all permanent collaborators who, in various ways, invest their effort, knowledge, and love.
