On Friday, 20 March 2026, at the Primary School “Miloš Crnjanski” in Banovo Brdo, a lecture entitled “How to Be a Parent – Between Protecting and Fostering a Child’s Independence” was held as part of the “Parenting School” project, in cooperation with the Committee for Religious Education of the Archdiocese of Belgrade–Karlovci.
The speakers were psychologist Viktor Vicanović, a permanent expert associate of the Apologetics Section of the Missionary Department of the Archdiocese of Belgrade–Karlovci, and Presbyter Dr Oliver Subotić, Head of the Missionary Department of the same Archdiocese. The lecture was moderated by Bojana Petrović, BTh, a teacher of religious education at this school.
It is particularly noteworthy that the attending parents expressed a clear desire to participate in the dialogue that followed the lecture, which emphasized that the issue of balancing between protecting a child and gradually fostering their independence is of exceptional importance in contemporary child-rearing.
The “Parenting School” programme will continue in the forthcoming period, with the aim of providing parents with concrete support through lectures and discussions, strengthening their child-rearing capacities, and offering guidance for addressing the challenges of growing up in contemporary society.
The lecture was recorded by Television Hram and will be published soon.
