On Tuesday, 23 December 2025, at the Primary School “Oslobodioci Beograda”, the third session in a series of professional lectures and public forums dedicated to the topic of parenting was held, entitled “Empathy in Children and Its Importance.”
The significance of empathy in the upbringing of children was addressed by Viktor Vicanović, Specialist in Psychology, with the support of the school psychologist, Nataša Arsović. Through concrete and everyday examples, parents were given the opportunity to become acquainted with ways in which empathy in children can be developed and nurtured.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of compassion as a foundational value in relationships with others, a point further illustrated by examples drawn from the New Testament, which testify to the importance of understanding and entering into the feelings of another person.
In the concluding remarks of the lecture, it was emphasized that Truth is essential in this aspect of interpersonal relationships as well. As the lecturer stated:
“Empathy without Truth is sentimentality, and Truth without love is condemnation.”
